Tips to Having a Luscious Garden

0

Now that spring has arrived it’s time to get the garden started! You may have some ideas but it can be hard to know what to do first. Here are some ideas on what that process can look like.

Pick Your Plants

Something many people may not realise is that some plants do not interact well. When picking out what plants you want in your garden make sure to educate yourself on what plants will do well next to each other.

Next you want to picture what the plants will look like once they are grown and visualize the best layout for them from an aesthetic point of view. The colors of the plants plus the height and size can make or break the look you are going for.

Another variable to consider is your geography. Different plants do well in different climates. Making sure the expensive plants you are picking to grow will do well where you live is crucial to having a happy garden. You will want to consider the relative geography as well. This is the placement within your available space. Some plants will want more shade than others or direct sunlight. You must take this into consideration when planning.

Invest in Supplies

Having the right materials to maintain and treat your garden is very important. You should invest in supplies that are well made and will do its intended job correctly. If you are worried about storing these supplies in the seasons you aren’t using them you can always get a storage unit to put them out of the way. If you have the space in your yard you may even want to invest in a storage shed for quick and easy access. You can DIY your shed since there are many video tutorials and resources that you can find online. You will also want to invest in mulch or some other kind of ground cover for aesthetic purposes. The soil itself may be nice if that is the look you are going for but often people will want their landscaping to have a specific look to it which they can easily attain through designor buddy. Adding a couple of cute sculptures is something you can consider as well.

Make Time

You may think the extent of having a garden is putting the plants in the soil. That is only the very beginning of the process. You will have to dedicate many hours throughout the entire lifespan of your garden. Of course the most obvious thing that will take your time is watering. This is something that can be made easier with timed sprinklers or an irrigation system. Otherwise you have to make sure you have the time to water your garden on a regular basis.

Watering is not the only concern. Your time and energy will be needed for other aspects of upkeep. Trimming, pruning, and harvesting are important parts of your garden’s care. Depending on what plants you are growing you may need to add trellises or other supportive structures.

A garden can be a lovely addition to the outdoor landscape of your home. Make sure you are prepared to care for it and you will have beauty for many years to come!
