5 Ways to Make Your Kitchen More Organized

0

Spending time in the kitchen should be an enjoyable way to prepare and cook delicious meals for your loving family. Unfortunately, if your kitchen isn’t a well-oiled (excuse the pun) and organized machine, you won’t have a good time.

If you’re one of those people who cannot seem to stay organized with wheelbarrow storage, you are not alone – you need a bit of guidance to smooth out your disorderly troubles.

Below are five ways to make your kitchen more organized and a happy place to work.

1. Check the Expiration Dates

One of the simplest ways to organize your cooking area is to get rid of old, opened, or goods past their expiration date. You may think that because a food item is canned, that it will last a lifetime, which simply is not true.

Go through your grocery cupboard and fridge and throw out anything that doesn’t belong there anymore. As a handy tip, if you bought it pre-pandemic – chances are that it needs to go.

2. Conquer Your Plastics Cupboard

There is just something otherworldly that happens to matching socks and Tupperware lids. Even after you pack your house up to move, those elusive little buggers are just never to be seen again.

Go through your plastic cupboard and throw away anything that doesn’t have a matching lid or bottom – regardless of how useful it may seem. The same applies to ice cream containers; no one in the history of kitchens has ever needed to keep more than ten of them, even for meal prep.

3. Make Use of Nifty Tools & Gadgets

Back in your grandmother’s day, items had to be reused for other purposes because no one had yet invented nifty gadgets for age-old problems. These days, life is very different.

There are countless nifty tools and gadgets on the market specially designed to make your life easier and far more organized. Take the Jiffy Twist, for example – there has never been a more effective way to open stubborn jars. Use modern technology and inventions for your benefit, which is what they are there for.

4. Prioritize the Essentials

Instead of organizing your cupboards based on item size, rethink how you organize them. You should be packing items away based on how often they get used. Group the essential items in an easy-to-reach place – after all, they are your golden items.

Categorize and prioritize your kitchen and grocery items – your life will be that much easier afterward.

5. Declutter the Utensils Drawer

If you don’t have a utensil drawer that is exploding with items you rarely use, are you even an adult? The utensil drawer has a magical way of attracting items that rarely get used – like a pastry cutter, have you ever even made a pie in your life?

Get rid of duplicates and triplicates, and then be ruthless with which items get to stay and which ones get chucked. No one needs thirty-two pairs of takeaway chopsticks.

Once your kitchen is a more organized space, you will enjoy spending time in there instead of avoiding it at all costs.
